ManScout Photography's Norman Cook says that capturing images has been both a passion and a hobby he has enjoyed since childhood. Norman's interest in fashion photography began when he owned and and ran a modelling agency in South Africa back in the early 90's. During this time Norman worked with many top models and beauty queens, hosted many shows and launched the first ever fashion show set about a South African navy vessel. The photographer, now based out of London, has gone on to work with companies such as Calvin Klein, Kangol and Diesel.

It is sometimes funny to me what exactly it is about an image, or group of images from a photographer, that draws me to their work. Although each of the models presented here could certainly have a profile of their own. With Norman's work there was something about the location that I really loved.

Below: Matt Morgan

For those who capture the male form, shooting near or by the water is certainly not a new concept. There was something about the location that was a bit unique to me. There is a very rustic, masculine feel to the Norman's choice of location in Woolwich, in South London along The River Thames. Unlike a dock in Florida or Hawaii, the rock and wood which create the architecture along the riverside, have weathered rain, snow, wind and temperatures which speak to the physically demanding work that once took place upon them.

'Matt Morgan was an unknown face and fresh on the modelling scene when I first worked with him in 2009. I was one of the first photographers to work with him and helped him build a portfolio. Matt’s handsome looks, muscular physique and determination to succeed landed him many lucrative contracts and the Covers of magazines, including UK and Australian issues of Men's Fitness.'
Norman Cook

'I love shooting in Woolwich and along the Thames River with its rich history and old landmarks. The old rustic and abandoned piers are ideal for taking masculine shots, the type of photography I enjoy. Once during a shoot at an old fortification, the model I was working with was in a state of undress. These two police officers came up from behind and asked if they could watch. They were surprisingly relaxed and friendly about the whole thing. Fortunately the landmarks where I shoot are remote and away from prying eyes, so this reduces the risk of getting caught, receiving complaints and facing arrest. I don’t allow the models I work with to expose themselves unnecessarily and always carry towels in my kit. I take my work seriously and will never put a model or myself in harms way.'
