Need to remind myself to never walk into a Best Buy while wearing a blue polo shirt. #idontworkhere

Silly Harry! Had you gone shirtless (a state you should always be), everyone would have known who you are!

Touchdown: Rashard by P W Gomez

The last time I featured the work of Kalamazoo, Michigan's P.W. Gomez, I focused on the photographer's location work. I was drawn to P.W's incredible shots placing his subject outside at the campus of Western Michigan University. Because his focus is often on fitness models, P.W. often shoots athletes outside or on location.

P.W. says his affinity for location work stems from his love of shooting seasonal landscapes (fall, spring, winter) as well as historic homes and architecture. For this piece however, I thought it time to move inside and I chose to feature his studio work with Rashard.

Football was Rashard's sport of choice in high school, but with high school now behind him, the 19 year old is moving off the field and giving some of his other interests a try. For many of us, exploring other career opportunities doesn't necessarily mean losing our clothes. For Rashard however, it made sense to make use of all of the time and hard work he put into building and maintaining his incredible body.

If his shoot with P.W. is any indication, Rashard seems like a natural. Not only is this his first time naked in front of the camera, it is his first professional shoot ever. P.W. says Rashard seemed very comfortable during the shoot and was game for every pose and even made some suggestions for a few of them himself. Rashard's concerns were not really focused on how his body looked, in fact P.W. relays Rashard was more concerned so much about getting just the right pose and facial expressions.

Just Because: The Rumble Strip

I drove home from the shore on Tuesday night after a day on the beach. You all know that tired feeling after a long day in the sun, on the sand and in the ocean. 30 minutes into the 90 minute drive home, the talking and jokes started to slow down and shortly thereafter I noticed all four of my passengers had nodded off. I chose not to turn on the radio to stay awake to not bother anyone, dumb. Soon I was drifting into the silence of white noise. Traveling in silence in a car is not really that quiet. The sound of the cars going by and constant wind pressure was actually quite loud, yet still seemed calmly peaceful as I began the head bob dance between almost falling asleep and forcing myself back to alertness.

No need to worry, this story does not have a bad ending, it really has no ending, nor real purpose. t was just sort of interesting to me that when on the last head bob of the drive I slid onto the rumble strip. The jolt brought me back to full alertness, a state I remained in for the rest of the ride home. What was sort of scary however was that although the jolt was not long, it was severe, yet none of the others in the car were effected in the slightest by the movement and noise. Obviously the rumble strip did the trick for me, but had I actually fallen asleep I am not sure it would have woken me. I am in the car a lot for work and have learned many tricks to stay awake. Usually on those drives however, I am alone. Blasting the stereo, pulling over to stretch and even stopping to nap are not usually a big deal. Not taking these same measures, in an effort not to bother others, could have ended up endangering those I was trying not to wake up. Dumb!
