Happy Birthday today December 16th

I first featured Birthday Boy Theo James back in 2011 after his brief, but memorable turn as Mr. Pamuk on Downtown Abbey (HERE:) I think 2014 and his turn with Kate Winslet in Divergent will catapult him to even greater stardom. Happy 29th Theo!

The Cruelest Kind

Speaking of Kate Winslet, one of the movies I try to watch every Christmas time is The Holiday. On the surface the film, written and directed by Nancy Meyers, might seem just your average romantic comedy but the movie never fails to sweep me up, especially Kate Winslet's scenes with Eli Wallach. The opening sequence in which Iris (Winslet) is once again fucked over by Jasper Bloom is beautifully written and acted. The characters soliloquy about unrequited love always rips me just a little, as it is a love I am all too familiar with. I know we have all at one time or another have been in love with someone who is not in love with us but it really is, especially at Christmas time, the cruelest kind of love there is.

'Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space!'

Shake It Up! More of NYC's finest by Hans Fahrmeyer

'Years of taking photographs of Fitness Models for the American magazine Men’s Workout have developed Hans Fahrmeyer's interest in the human body as a sculptural form. The sensual and sinuous twists of Fahrmeyer's subjects can be as dramatically accented with light and shade as they are enhanced by regular physical training. "Body sculpture becomes for me a feeling that I create with light, in the same way that an artist uses his brush." says the largely self-taught photographer.'
David Leddick

When someone is really gifted at something the risk is consistent excellence can often overlooked. This is my 71st Sunday With Hans and when going through the images Hans sent on I was beautifully reminded why I love his work so much. The first shot in particular, the model, the facial expression captured, the water running down his on his arm and the lighting all together create such an incredible image. In all of those 71 posts, each of the over 700 images included within, are examples of the talent, skill and creativity from artist Hans Fahrmeyer.

In the last Sunday With Hans, (Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go) the focus was on some of New York's finest, and hottest go-go boys. This week we are showcasing a few more as well as Hans new video devoted to the men dancers who have provided so much enjoyment for so many!

Favorite Five: Joshua Bowman

Everyday FH blends images, story with a dash of celebrity and pop culture. In this new feature, Favorite Five, I am going to attempt to narrow down my top five favorite images of some of my favorite guys to feature. This has already proved difficult as when trying to choose images for actor Joshua Bowman, I already found myself changing my mind several times. Joshua has an a great body and I love his furry chest but his appeal is firmly planted on his lips. His great lips and mouth, his nose and that twinkle in his eye form a magical and sexual intensity that comes through both in images and on screen.
