Tony Standout: Jay Armstrong Johnson

I enjoyed The Tony's last night. There were weak moments (many of them) but also some strong performances and some cast albums (It Should Have Been You) I now have to order. Every year when watching the Tony's, there is someone who stands out to me, someone I had not known or seen before but whose stage presence has me wanting to know more.

This year, that performer was Jay Armstrong Johnson. In one of the show's early performance, Jay and his On The Town cast mates brought some much needed energy into the room. I actually have been following Jay's work for awhile. Last year, Jay stage presence also stood out to me while watching PBS's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I started researching the actor for a future post which today, seems perfectly timed.

Jay has been on stage in regional productions including of Hairspray, West Side Story, a national touring production of A Chorus Line. The 27 year old actor and singer made his Broadway debut in Hair in 2009. Jay went went on to perform on Broadway in Catch Me If You Can and Hands on a Hardbody and off-Broadway in Wild Animals You Should Know. Jay has been playing Chip in Our Town since October of last year.

Vernissage de l'exposition des photographie de Sean P. Watters

'I am so excited to announce my first solo exhibition featuring my work from my series “That Window in Harlem”. I have been commissioned by men’s couturier and jeweler Marc-Antoine Barrois to exhibit at his namesake boutique on Rue de Budapest in Paris from June 1 through July 31, 2015. The exhibition will feature some new work and some old favorites of mine.'

If you're lucky enough to be in Paris this summer, check out Sean P Watters first solo exhibition, A Window in Harlem! If you're not heading to Europe, check out Sean's tumblr which features many images from the exhibition.

A&E's Secret Weapon: Keenan Tracey

One might not think of A&E as a network concerned about having a hunk, but if there is a face, and an adorable body, of the network, it would be 23 year old actor Keenan Tracey. This past season, A&E chose to cast Keenan in not one, but two of their original programs with Keenan being featured in both of it's Monday night dramas.

As Gunner on Bates Motel, Keenan has spent the last couple of seasons as a bit of mystery, weaving in and out of both the Bates brothers stories. This season, Keenan added a second A&E show to his resume with a role on The Returned, the drama which follows Bates on Monday night. Two hours of Tracey was fine by me, especially when both shows found a reason to take Keenan down to the river for a refreshing swim. Next season... (spoiler coming....) it appears Keenan will be back to just one hour a week as one of his characters recently came to a rather climatic end.
