Horror Hunks: Hywel Bennett in Twisted Nerve

'Tell Mommy all about it...'

I was a little hesitant when I saw the star of the 1968 British psychological thriller Twisted Nerve was Hayley Mills. I don't think I have actually ever seen Hayley in anything, but was aware she was a child star, and was in the original version of The Parent Trap. There was promise of male nudity, but at first glance, star Hywel Bennett, another actor I had not heard of, reminded me of a young Andrew Llyod Webber, and as talented as he is, I never saw anything remotely sexy, or sexual, about Mr. Webber.

I did love however like the synopsis that I read, and I especially loved the title. Twisted Nerve is such a great word combo, conjuring up both the physical, and emotional twisting of the fibers that transmit impulses and sensations from every part of our bodies to our brains. Bennett plays Martin, a socially awkward and sexually stunted man child whose alter ego, Georgie takes over for much of the film.

Bennett is great, and perfectly creepy as Georgie, especially as his obsession with Susan (Mills) grows. All of the supporting cast are great, but Bennett and Mills really hold your attention. Bennett oddly gets more sexy, the more consumed and disturbed his characters become. .

There are two brief rear nude scenes, both of the male lead, not the female. Strange for any film, let alone a 1968 drama. The nudity seems intentional though, used to contrast Martin and Georgie. Every time we may thing Georgie is just a disturbed little boy, we are reminded his is actually an older, more mature cold blooded killer

Halloween Hotel: Jonah by MW Photo MD

'I never had Autumn in a hotel room before. I guess I felt like an indoor pumpkin!'

Last month, while working on a story featuring Mark's MW Photo MD work with Jon, (Comfortable in his Skin) I had an idea. I had seen some shots from one of Mark's previous studio shoots, with Autumn leaves falling over the nude model he was shooting. I asked Mark if he had any upcoming scheduled shoots if he might snap an Autumn or Halloween image or two for FH.

It was a welcomes surprise when Mark got in touch a few weeks ago about his recent work with 20 year old Pittsburgh model Jonah. Jonah has an incredible look, great body and face the most beautiful brown eyes. I loved Mark's shots of Jonah, and the images certainly were beyond my expectations, and I thank him for dragging the pumpkin and Autumn garland wrapped so beautifully draped around Jonah. Mark also made perfect use of Autumn leaves, (in the last two images) on and around Jonah lying on the bed.

Mark connected with Jonah via Model Mayhem while exploring a possible future trip to Pittsburgh. Mark not only liked Jonah's look, but also Jonah's answers to his questions while they were communicating a possible shoot. 'As far as wrapping himself in the Autumn apparel I showed it to him at he start of the shoot when I was unpacking and discussing different ideas and he took to it with no reservations once I introduced it during the shoot.'

Jonah shares that modeling is something he has always wanted to do. He found a local photographer who helped get him started, and together, they began building Jonah's portfolio. Jonah work has already began to draw notice and attention and he is off to California in a few weeks for some shoots and to check out the acting scene as well. I am sure many of you want to get to know more about Jonah, and see more of his work with Mark. Consider today's Halloween themed post an introduction, and I promise to feature more from their work together soon!
